Broadcast & Multimedia Production Intern

Hours:
10–15+ hrs/week (flexible scheduling to accommodate Productions and office hours with some evening availability for meeting coverage.)

Position Overview:

MCTV is seeking a motivated Broadcast & Multimedia Production Intern to support live productions, content creation, and channel operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in studio and field production, editing, and streaming, using professional tools like NewTek TriCaster and Cablecast systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and curious individual looking to gain real-world production experience, develop technical skills, and explore community-based media in action.

Key Responsibilities:

Live Broadcast & Media Scheduling

  • Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of live broadcasts of city council and community meetings.
  • Help schedule programs and manage content using tools like Cablecast and Castus.
  • Support uploading, tagging, and organizing media assets.

Production & Content Creation

  • Assist in producing PSAs, community features, and educational videos.
  • Help with pre-production planning, site visits, camera operation, and editing.
  • Contribute to social media-ready edits and promotional clips.

Community Media Support

  • Collaborate on MCTV social media and outreach efforts.
  • Support community members in learning studio and field equipment.
  • Contribute to media education projects, such as workshops or tutorials.

Studio & Tech Assistance

  • Help maintain studio readiness and equipment organization.
  • Troubleshoot basic tech issues with support from the Tech Manager.
  • Edit program descriptions and keep digital assets updated.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Current student or recent graduate in broadcasting, multimedia, film, communications, or a related field.
  • Interest in live video production, editing, and digital storytelling.
  • Basic familiarity with tools like Adobe Premiere, NewTek TriCaster, or willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable working on both Mac and Windows platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and eagerness to grow.
  • Must be available some weeknights for meeting/event coverage.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
