Our Internship Program

Interested in interning with MCTV and the North Peninsula Community Media Center? We rely on volunteers to help in a variety of capacities. Read below for internship program details.

MCTV relies on volunteers to keep our organization running smoothly. Interns provide MCTV with valuable work hours every week in many different capacities.  In exchange for their commitment,  our interns get experience and training in every aspect of video production.  If you are a self-motivated, good-natured, team player with an interest in getting hands-on training and learning more about television station management, video production, and community-based media, then this internship is for you! MCTV offers internship opportunities for college and high school students.

MCTV interns are expected to:

    • Make a three-month commitment, unless otherwise arranged
    • Work an average of 3-5 hours per week (depending on internship)
    • Have a basic knowledge of video production techniques, including camera operation, audio production, and lighting.  Applicants should have taken an introductory video production course or had comparable experience
      • Familiarity with social media platforms
    • Have good people skills and a decent sense of humor

MCTV offers a variety of internship opportunities including:

Programming Office/Administrative Assistant: Assist with organizing DVDs and paper documentation. Requires strong organizational and problem solving skills as well as patience and attention to detail. No media background required.

Field Production: Flexible hours working with MCTV’s Production Coordinator on the planning, recording, transferring and editing of MCTV’s productions. Requires prior video production experience and skills.

Editing: Working with various MCTV staff to edit programs for event coverage or special productions. Requires prior experience with Final Cut Pro.

Studio Production: Assist Production Coordinator with facilitating studio productions; help with setting up, shooting, breaking down and editing the material.

Youth Media: Assist with various programmatic and production needs. Requires media production skills, Final Cut Pro X experience, outgoing personable demeanor and flexibility.

Graphic Design: Assist with creating flyers and other promotional materials for MCTV. Requires prior graphic design experience, self-sufficiency and good design instincts.

Outreach/Marketing: Assist staff in promoting various MCTV classes, training opportunities, special programs and more. Experience and with graphic design and social media is helpful.

Website Content Editors: Assist our staff in editing website with new content. mctv.tv

Special Projects: What amazing skills are YOU interested in bringing to MCTV that we might not have even thought of? Depending on your qualifications and MCTV’s needs, special internships may be created.
